However, Daisy forgot her love interest faster than Judy. Once Gatsby was gone off to war or dead she simply ran away with Tom leaving any memories of Jay behind her. It took Judy years and many engagements to finally settle down. Also, they have certain characteristics that are hard to forget. This includes Daisy’s voice and Judy’s unnatural beauty. The husky, charming voice of Daisy is spoke of in GG as one â€Å"men who cared for her found difficult to forget,† and was used â€Å"only to make people lean toward her. † In â€Å"WD† Judy is referred to as, â€Å"inexpressively lovely and [bringing] no end of misery to a great number of men. Not only were their characteristics unforgettable, but also full of falsity. In GG, Nick speaks how he gets trapped in his cousin’s voice only to be let down when he realizes everything she said was shallow. Nick says, â€Å"†¦her voice compelled me forward breathlessly†¦then the glow faded, each light deserting her with lingering regret†¦. † Dexter at one point in â€Å"WD† says that Judy’s smile was â€Å"radiant, blatantly artificial-convincing. † It’s no mistaking that these two gorgeous social- lites are the modeled after one another. Finally, the similarities among the minor characters of GG and the main characters of â€Å"WD† are easy to spot. Jordan Baker and Judy Jones both play golf and are liars. In GG Nick picks up on Jordan’s pathological lying ways, but says, â€Å"dishonestly in a woman is a thing you never blame too deeply†¦,† and same goes for Judy Jones when she lies to Dexter time after time again, saying she loves him and then turns around and leaves him. Another similarity is that Judy Jones and Tom Buchannan’s love interest, Myrtle Wilson, have â€Å"vitality† about them. In GG Myrtle is illustrated as having, â€Å"vitality about her as if the nerves of her body were continually smoldering. † And at a young age Dexter notices â€Å"vitality [that] is born early in such women† in Judy Jones. The fact that Fitzgerald used the same template for his characters doesn’t take away from either story; at first glance the reader doesn’t even pick up on the similarities. But after discovering how alike the two works are it makes the reader wonder if heartbreak, lies, and loss is all Fitzgerald knew to write about.

The Driving Way Selecting a career path is the easiest decision one can make; I have chosen five in the nine years since high school. The problem is selecting a path and following it to completion. When I returned to school for my most recent career path, I worked hard and did well for the first several months. Then, I started staying out late with a young lady, and the amount of time that I applied to school decreased by an order of magnitude. After several weeks with her, it was apparent that my grades were going to be bad. I told my father that I was not doing well in school, and that I was going to quit school to work full time again. He surprised me when he replied, "Do you remember the first time that I let you drive?" Although I vaguely remembered the event, I said, "Of course I do." Father then ask, "Do you still drive as poorly as you did that day?" Sensing one of the old man's long-winded speeches about to start, I harshly said, "No, what's your point?" After my abrasive reply, Father shook his head and started reading a book. Although I did not want to hear his speech, I could not keep from wondering what he wanted to say. I thought about the Saturday morning that my father let me drive for the first time. He drove me to a stretch of road so long and straight that you could see it converge in the horizon.
